Your manager probably isn’t as bad as you think. Only a few Premier League managers have held their jobs for more than a few years. Ferguson and Wenger have more years at their clubs than the rest of the English Premier League managers combined.
Alex Ferguson, 23 years, Man United
Arsene Wenger, 14 years, Arsenal
David Moyes, 8 years, Everton
Rafael Benitez, 6 years, Liverpool
Tony Pullis of Stoke and Martin O’Neill at Aston Villa will get to 4 years soon.
Do they stay because they are successful or are they successful because they aren’t canned? Cause or effect?
Given his relatively limited resources, I’d argue that David Moyes has done a more impressive job over the last 5 years than Alex Ferguson. Maybe I’ll get into that in another post.
